Introduction
An oil/chemical tanker met with a collision while departing the port in the EU, the vessel was asked to return to the port and drop anchor by local authorities. The vessel was not allowed to sail by the Port State until complete incident investigation and full repairs were done.
Vessel Attendance
One of our marine consultant was immediately dispatched to the site. Being local presence in the EU/UK region provides us an advantage in terms of travel time and visa issuance. Our team is ever ready and available to be at site in the shortest possible time. During critical times, such as an incident on a vessel, time is of great essence.
The work scope
- Assist Master and crew in handling the overall situation including interaction with external parties
- Act as a communication channel for the owners, technical managers and commercial operator
- Dealing with vessel operational issues and maintaining vessel is safe condition
- Supervising cargo/ballast/ bunker activities
- Prepare vessel and coordinate with local workshop for carrying out effective repairs
- Collect evidences and statements from Master/crew, VDR recordings and other physical post incident checks.
- Visit PSCO and discuss best way to release the vessel at the earliest.
- Completed the repairs and approved by Class
- The vessel was released and sailed out with minimal time loss
- Carry out detailed investigation and submit report to the technical managers including corrective and preventive actions.
Conclusion
Our marine consultant was armed with decades of shipping experience and played a crucial role post incident during vessel attendance. His assistance was instrumental in early resumption of vessel voyage. Thus minimizing the downtime and revenue loss to stakeholders.
